yeah? if that's what you want, i'm not gonna say no. i know this place— the red cardinal— that serves food and drink, including wine and lots of other alcohol. my treat, of course. i like to help out behind the bar and they owe me.
[ Not that he doesn't have a hefty number of credits to his name, but years working on a floating restaurant have taught him the value of saving even a little money where you can. ]
[ The Red Cardinal. That name alone has piqued her interest, remembering it being mentioned to her before in a different conversation. ]
They allow guests to work? How interesting. Very well. You name the time and I shall be there.
[ It shouldn't be hard to find, she thought. But when the time comes to meet, she did get a little lost on the way, given the Red Cardinal being a little separated away from the nightlife of the resort, but she shows up ten minutes later. The door of the Cardinal opens to Jingyi, wearing a fitting button-up shirt and a pencil skirt, who immediately notices the stark difference in the decor being devoid of smutty imagery.
She hums, scanning the room and the faces of the diners from the door, waiting for the familiar face of Sanji to show up. While she can sense where he is, she thinks it's better that he approaches her first, just to show that she's here with him and he's paying. ]
[ There’s never really much to do at the Golden Peacock— or at least, there’s not much anyone’s required to do— so she doesn’t have to wait long before their meet-up.
Nor does Sanji, for that matter, for whom the Red Cardinal is almost like his home turf here. That’s maybe overstating things— maybe— but he knows the place like the back of his hand, knows it as well as he knows his way around a kitchen. He dresses the way he usually does— a nice suit, with a blazer and button-up shirt and a tie— and is quick to spot her once he’s actually there after scanning the crowd a few times. ]
Hey there. Jingyi, yeah? [ Approaching with a quick wave and an easy grin spread across his face, he stops just a few steps shy of her, briefly eyeing her appreciatively. ] You wanna sit at the bar or grab a table? They’ll take damn good care of us either way, so it doesn’t really matter.
[ She acknowledges him with a simple look. Not even a bow or a nod. ]
A table seems preferable. That one.
[ She answers, looking around and finding a spot, and seeing a corner booth where she can easily watch the people around her. Jingyi gives him a quick look, and notes his choice of attire with mild appreciation. She finds it easy to respect people who dress their best. ]
Do not tell me you cook food in those clothes. It'd be such a shame to ruin them.
[ Jingyi's simple acknowledgement doesn't phase him in the slightest. He just grins at her and nods as she gestures at the nearby booth. Luckily, the Red Cardinal is just informal enough that nobody cares where they sit.
As they walk towards the booth, he chuckles quietly at her observation. She's not the first person to note that, and she won't be the last, but he likes cooking while wearing nice things. ] Actually, yeah, I do. Maybe not the jacket, but the rest? Pretty much always.
[ And the jacket is more out of practicality– it gets too warm and stuffy with the oven on– than anything else. ] You'd be surprised at just how effective a good apron is at keeping your clothing clean, though. Don't even need to worry about the rest of what I'm wearing. Does it for me.
[ Gesturing for her to take either of the benches, Sanji extends a hand almost expectantly, ready to help her into the booth. He knows she probably won't need it, but it feels odd not to help. ] I can give you a demonstration sometime, if you want.
